Two years ago today, D.C. was in the twenties and I was stomping my feet to keep them warm. I was cracking jokes with college girlfriends. I was standing in the midst of 2 million people who gathered to watch the inauguration of Barack Obama.
Maybe you were there? If you were, you probably remember what I remember: a calm crowd full of jovial people.
If you were there, you probably remember walking miles from the Mall to find a Metro station that wasn’t closed.
And if you were there, you probably remember that there was no shoving, no altercations, no arrests.
I remember thinking at the time, as I still do, that that was a most amazing thing.
